Growing up in the sixties and early
seventies, you drive downtown and you see painted on the walls the sign,
"POST NO BILL." You don't see those signs anymore. And so with this website, fellow batch members, we
invite you to contribute your bills, your thoughts and your
photographs. Let this be a chronicle of the best works and of the delicate
artistic expressions of our members. Let this photographed volume tell
the stories of all those willing to work side by side seeking to inform
and enlighten thru their lens.

Batch80 Celebrates
Christmas Jubilee
Party!
It was the best of times! A time of quickening…..
The last Batch 1980 Jubilee event for 2005 happened on December 3, 2005, Saturday at the
Madrigal Grill, Quezon City. Over 70 batchmates arrived to cap
our Silver Jubilee year with singing, dancing, jamming, talking, fun and booze.
It was to be an "ordinary" Christmas party for an extraordinary
batch. Jubilee year near over, a year spent in celebratory mood
while half-consciously planning the next occasion with
anticipation and regularity. There were despedidas, bienvenidas,
birthdays, a summer outing, and a spate of videokes; that not
much else was expected from its Christmas party. Bigger
attendance perhaps, and a dash of this and that.
To everyone’s pleasant surprise, the yuletide cheer, and
goodwill built throughout the year made batchmates come bearing
good tidings. After all, ours was the most attended grand
reunion, and the bonding forged from subsequent get-togethers
proved to be deeper, more honest than it seemed. This most
important ingredient, plus, a live band consisting of male batch
members, a mini-concert from the ladies, a dance showcase from
the jubilee dancers, good hosting, a well-crafted AVP, ABS-CBN
partial coverage to honor a member, the recognition of one of
its most self-effacing members, generous gestures from batch
mates here and abroad, and its first general assembly headed by
its president, combined to make this occasion truly befitting a
Christmas party of the most extraordinary batch.

Batch 80 Holds Career
Talks
for UST High School
Seniors
Thomasians
Leading Thomasians
Almost a
year after the Grand Jubilee, the USTHS Batch 80 once again flexed
its social muscles, this time for a worthy cause, by participating
in a slam-bang Career Talk held on November 8, 2005 at the UST High
School’s auditorium, the Benavidez Hall. This shining moment came
when dedicated men and women from its roster vaulted busy schedules,
and in cooperation with USTHS Guidance Office and the Alumni Club,
capped what was supposedly the last phase of the school’s Career
Orientation Program.
It was a day of Thomasians guiding younger
Thomasians, a day of sharing experiences and wisdom gained through
the years by dint of perseverance and faith. This is Batch 80's
first major project after it has been formalized as the UST High
School Batch 1980 Alumni Association.
The batch event was organized and led by Marina
Valenzuela-Torres. She closely coordinated with Leny Gadiana,
USTHS guidance counselor and Olive Mapanao of the Alumni Club.
The plenary speakers were led by Rene V. Molano, valedictorian PM
session, and joined by no less illustrious peers, Margie Agapinan-Alfonso,
Rey Rey-Matias, Ronnie Cabanes, Hans Lopez, Tato Martinez, Joel
Navarro and Leo Riingen. Teng Aguilar, Salvador Tan, Happy
Esquivias-DosSantos and Jo Medina-Manalad shared their experiences
at the career break-outs in the afternoon.
The event launches the first of a series of
batch's social-responsibility projects for the Jubilee Year.

The
Career Buddy System (CBS)
Penultimate, because the career talk gave birth
to the Career Buddy System (CBS), a simple online career guidance
program, proposed by US based, Chito Rabadam. This program provides
an avenue for batch counselor volunteers to "buddy up" with
interested students via email on career topics and help guide these
students during their tricky but challenging career decision making
process. These students could in the future serve as junior buddies
and help out on future inquiries from the next wave of 4th
year students. Revolutionary!! Watch out for more announcement on
the CBS!!

May 14, 2005. Tagaytay.
The summer heat wave did
not spare the normally cooler air of Tagaytay. The day sizzled
with fun, laughter, a lot of ribbing and intermittent green
jokes.
We were one happy, playing family
out there feasting on food and friendship.

April 9, 2005. Acropolis, Quezon City.
He cut a figure and his was a big name in high
school--Raulito C. Baylon, aka Jun Baylon. Talented and witty,
he is the batch's perennial show host and vocalist.
As his batchmates paid him tribute during his
farewell party (as he embarks to his newfound life in New
Zealand), it became clear that his big stature is amply matched
with a big heart.

February 26, 2005. Manila Hotel,
Manila.
The "Grandmother" of reunions; as hailed
by many. Its robust attendance, heart-pounding dance numbers,
impressive song numbers and most touching tributes will prove
difficult to match in years to come.
Under pressure and with great
expectations, USTHS Batch80 delivered a knock-out punch of a
performance.
A showcase of unity, creativity and fun!

February 28, 2005. Espana, Manila.
After 25 long years, they came back
to visit and pace the once familiar schoolground. Retracing
steps, re-living fond, carefree memories from youth, they; older
and wiser now, some silver streaked, have taken on where they
have left off.
February 28, 2005. Greenbelt,
Makati.
The euphoria continues as the
"silver trekkers" trooped en masse to a popular videoke joint to
belt out their new-found sense of kinship and camaraderie. Melody and unity
make perfect harmony!
